Our Dam Building Process
Site Preparation & Clay Excavation
We begin by clearing the site and stripping away topsoil to access suitable clay material beneath the surface. This clay forms the foundation of the dam wall due to its excellent water-retaining properties.
Key-In Trench Formation
A key-in trench is excavated beneath the dam wall site—this is a critical step that locks the wall into the ground and prevents water seepage. The trench is filled and compacted with clay to create a watertight barrier.
Dam Wall Construction & Spillway Excavation
Clay is layered and compacted in stages to form a strong, stable dam wall. We also shape and excavate a spillway to safely direct overflow and prevent soil erosion, protecting the structure long-term.
Finishing & Erosion Control
Once construction is complete, we cap the dam wall with topsoil to promote grass growth. This natural cover helps prevent erosion, blending the structure into the landscape and supporting long-term durability.
